Our Mission

Bright Future is a non-profit organization that conducts activities such as teaching the joy of music, art, and sports to children in developing countries, chiefly Laos.

Laos is said to be one of the poorest and least developed countries in Asia. Though economic and educational opportunities are sparse, many children living there want the opportunity to study and learn more.
Our mission is to give children confidence and health by sharing the practice of music and sports and through donations to schools in Laos where the educational environment is underdeveloped.

What do we do?

When we are in Laos, we visit schools and conduct creative workshops. The main program is 45 minutes long, but we can adjust our schedule and workshop content according to the situation and needs of the specific school.

We also meet with educational boards to gain more insight about the education system in Laos.

Why did we start this project?

~ The founder, Teppei's story~

"I was very shy when I moved to a school in the States. It was very difficult for me to make friends because I was very shy and not good at English.

One day, in music class, we were required to learn how to use a recorder.

While my classmates struggled to play, I was able to play the song because I learned how to when I was in elementary school in Japan.

This made my classmates talk to me, and I was able to make more friends. I learned that you can connect with people through music even if you don't speak the same language.

In Japan, recorders and melodicas are often no longer used after elementary school, so I was curious what happens to them. I found out many of them keep these at home but never use them anymore, so I wanted to collect them and bring them to places that are needed.

~ Co-founder, Haruka's story~

Attracted by my childhood friend Teppei's passion for sharing the joy of music, art, and sports with children in Laos and other developing countries, I decided to co-found a non-profit organization. My father owns a stationery manufacturer and a wholesale distributor of supplies for schools. Noticing that the unsold and returned items generated there each year are disposed of at a certain cost, I proposed that the company reduce its disposal costs by giving those items away for free. I have established a scheme to provide a continuous supply of writing materials such as ballpoint pens and markers, drawing paper, notebooks, soccer balls, jump ropes, hula hoops, and relay batons to schools in Laos, thereby contributing to NPOs.
